Leslie Lowe, Professional Landscape Architect, Beargrass Landscape Architecture, Whitefish Montana

Leslie Lowe, PLA, ASLA, MLA

Professional Landscape Architect

Leslie Lowe is a landscape architect and environmental planner. She is the founder and principal of Beargrass Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning.

Every project is unique, and the best solutions come from bringing diverse thinking to each one. Leslie brings an informed, engaged and integrated approach to each client and their project. In addition to her work with individual clients and families, she has experience working with non-profit organizations and coordinating projects with government agencies and relevant stakeholders.

Leslie’s connection to the environment began not in a classroom but outdoors — a childhood of outdoor recreation and sports that never ended. That immersion in wild places continued through her graduate studies and remains part of her daily life today. She continues to hike, fly fish, kayak, and hunt upland birds through the same kinds of landscapes her clients ask her to blend into their projects.

Leslie’s diverse projects range from residential properties and community dog parks to organic food forests and wildlife habitat masterplans. Rooted in Holistic Land Management principles and a lifelong love of the outdoors, her goal is always the same — creating properties where the boundary between designed landscape and the natural world simply disappears.

Leslie holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from Utah State University. She has practiced in Canada and the U.S. since 2008, becoming a licensed Landscape Architect in Montana and British Columbia in 2011, Connecticut in 2018 and Michigan in 2019.

Before landscape architecture, Leslie earned a Master of Fine Arts in Drama Design from the University of Calgary, followed by years working in theater and movie set design. She shares her life with her husband Rick and two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, Kya and Leben.

Todd Stewart, Landscape Designer, Beargrass Landscape Architecture, Whitefish Montana

Todd Stewart, BLA

Landscape Designer

Todd holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Washington and brings professional experience from both Japan and the American Northwest. With a strong foundation in Pacific Northwest native plants and an expanding understanding of Montana’s diverse terrain and plant communities, he designs landscapes that are sustainable, regionally appropriate, and responsive to their surroundings.

His time working in Tokyo and Kyoto deepened his appreciation for the relationship between landscape, culture, and the natural environment — and for the idea that well-designed outdoor spaces can be enduring, meaningful, and genuinely connected to the people who use them. It’s an influence that shapes how he approaches every project. Clients appreciate Todd’s collaborative approach, working closely with them to develop design solutions that feel right for the land, the setting, and the people who live there.
